Fightergalla 17 – Fight reports

As i went to germany to watch the UFC the very same night and couldn't be there, one of my friends stepped in and offered to write about the event.
I personally think Jacob Nielsen did a really good job and i would really like to thank him!
Here it goes;

Fightergalla 17 – House of Pain. To me it looked like a very cool fightcard, and I was certainly not disappointed. It had a lot of very intense fights that really got the crowd going although they were holding back on the cheers. The results are as follows:

SHOOTFIGHTING.

Theo Ginman Arte Suave vs. Stefan Kryger Jørgensen CSA.dk Cph - 73kg.
Theo won by decision.
Theo dominated the fight from the clinch the first half of the fight, until he hit Stefan with an accidental low blow. After that Stefan tried to come back with his striking, but it was not enough. Pretty soon he ended up clinched against the cage, and lost the fight.

Dan Dahl XGYM Aalborg vs. Jonas Fidelman Fightgym.dk Odense – 80kg.
Jonas won by decision.
What a fight! Both fighters came out ready to bang, and they did just that! Dan was knocked down and counted over very early, but came back and took Jonas down twice for an all out submission war. Jonas was closer to finishing the fight, which gave him the judge’s votes and the win!

Jens Dall Sønderborg MMA vs. Rasmus Foged Fightgym.dk Odense – 76kg.
Rasmus won by decision.
Relatively uneventful fight. Rasmus got the fights only takedown, and showed good control in the guard. Later they got back up, and he kept controlling the fight in the clinch. But none of the fighters were in any real danger.

Sammy Stiti fightcraft.dk vs. Jonas Larsen Fightgym.dk Odense 71kg.
Jonas won by TKO.
Pretty intense stand up battle. About half way in Sammy dislocated his left shoulder doing a hook, and doubled over in pain. Jonas showed a lot of sportsmanship by giving Sammy’s corner men his sweatshirt for them to sling his arm in. I hope he will be back; he looked like an entertaining fighter to watch.

AMATEUR MMA.

Paul Johannesson XGYM Aalborg vs. Kristian Hansen Fightpit.dk Herning – 66kg.
Kristian won by submission – Rear Naked Choke.
Paul went for the takedown early and got it. On the ground Kristian showed good control, and quickly got Paul’s back. Most of the round Kristian tried to sink in the RNC, but just couldn’t do it. In the end he set it up properly, and it paid off.

Rune Petersen fightcraft vs. Frederik Jostelius MMA Gøteborg - 65kg.
Frederik won by decision.
Frederik got both takedowns in this fight, and was very dominant on the ground. In round 2 Rune tried to fight back standing, and Frederik looked very tired, but it was not enough. Frederik ended up getting the judges favor.

Hassan Abuzaid Sønderborg MMA vs. Allan Neuherr Butchers Lab Cph – 76kg.
Allan won by submission – Rear Naked Choke.
The fight was very even, with both fighters landing heavy punches, until Allan got a spectacular takedown about halfway through round 1. He dominated on the ground and soon secured a submission victory.

Emil Weber Meek MMA Trondheim Norge vs. Milan Silva CSA.dk Cph – 82kg.
Emil won by TKO.
This was a kind of odd fight. Emil made two fouls; first he hit Milan in the back of the head in the clinch – Repeatedly! When the referee split them up, and restarted the fight, Emil low blowed Milan, and sent him huffing and puffing for almost 1 minute. When they actually got to fighting Emil brutally knocked Milan on his back with a hard right, and quickly followed up with hammer fists on the ground, till the ref. stopped the fight.

Thomas Plet fightcraft.dk vs. Paul Rostad Stockholm CSA.dk Cph – 81kg.
Paul won by submission – Guillotine.
Thomas tried for the takedown all throughout the fight, and ended up in a bad clinch position. Paul took advantage, and sunk in the guillotine, and dropped to his back.

STAND UP FIGHT.

Michael Andersen Mikenta vs. Mads Bondo Fightgym.dk -65kg.
Mads won by submission.
It was a very even fight. It waged back and forth. Michael Andersen was fouled for a knee to the head. Mads was a little more effective than Michael and ended up with the decision win.

PRO MMA.

Earl Brown England vs. Peter Kirkegaard Fightgym.dk – 91kg
Peter won by decision.
Really a one-sided affair. Peter got the takedown early in round one, and dominated with strikes and elbows from both mount, sidemount, and the top of the guard. Earl sweeped him with 15 seconds to go, but failed to make anything of it. Both in the second and third round Peter was close to finishing the fight with strikes and submission, but Earl held his own, and it went to the judges.

Raymond Jarman Mike’s Gym Holland vs. Nicolas Dalby fightcraft.dk – 77kg.
Nicolas won by submission – RNC.
An all out standup war. Early in the fight Raymond seemed invulnerable to Nicolas excellent standup. And even blocked every one of the Sharpshooters trademark high kicks. Raymond got cut under the right eye, but that did nothing to dampen his heart. He even taunted Nicolas to hit him on the chin and chest. They slugged it out until Raymond went for a takedown and Nicolas hit him with a knee/kick to the face, knocking him down and allowing Nicolas to take the back and choke him.

Ben Schneider England vs. Lars Besand XGYM Danmark – 91kg.
Lars won by TKO.
Lars secured the takedown very early and worked a bit to secure a proper position. But once that was obtained he let his hands go, and hit Ben with a barrage of punches and elbows, that even made Ben go limb before the referee called a stop, and gave Lars the win. Lars then took the announcers mic and let the audience know, that he is serious about not just doing MMA, but doing it properly. Then he invited his long time girlfriend Christina into the cage. I think she was expecting him to thank her, for her support or some such, because when he fell to one knee, she was shocked to say the least! He asked her to marry him, and she of course said yes. So a huge double win for Lars that evening!

European Title fight.

Domingos Mestre GBG MMA Sverige vs. David Rosmon Fightgym.dk – 77kg.
Domingos won by decision.
It was a very even fight. They both kept it standing all the way through, and didn’t seem interested in any form of ground fighting. By round three they both seemed gassed, albeit David seemed a bit more. That made it possible for Domingos to dish out a bit more punishment than David, and I think that won him the fight and the belt.

All in all it was definitely a cool show. I can’t wait till the next Fightergalla on the 12th of FEB 2011.

Short Summary of Last Night's Fights (Fightergalla 15)

As it always is with amateur fights, last nights fight was a mixture of good fights and fight that are just really frustrating to watch either because of the technical level or because of the level of condining these guys have. Luckily the last part was much better at this event than what it has been in past events, and only a few people gassed. The technical level was generally but we also got to see brawling and windmilling and lets face it that is really what the crowd wants.

Romy Ruyssens Team GSDI Vs. Maria Hougaard Fightgym.dk
This fight was pretty much a one sided affair. Ruyssens got Hougaard up against the cage and was able to control Hougaard there until she took here down. On the ground Ruyssens threw several good punches at went constantly went for submissions. In the end she went from a RNC to a beautiful armbar.

Hyram Rodriguez Team Atfmilitia Vs. Rasmus Bendtsen Team Fight Pit

From the beginning of the fight both fighters set a good pace and it looked pretty even in the stand-up. Then Bendtsen decided to go for a takedown, but Rodriguez got the best of that and ended on top. After that Rodgriguez had the edge in the fight. Round 2 didn't go any better for Bendtsen and in the end he ended up mounted at just taking punches and the referee stopped the fight with 5 seconds of the round to go.

Tim Waage VBC Stockholm Vs. Damir Hadzovic Esbjerg MMA

This was a really good match up and both fighters went at it in an energy filled and technical brawl.
Waage got a cut early in the fight but was able to continue. The fight went back and forth with both fighters landing a lot of significant punches. The turning point came when Tim Waage decided to go for at running/flying knee and got caught by Damir, who finished him of with a choke.

Arvydas Zilius The Knight of Plunge Vs. Auyb ”Zap” Tashkilot Submission fighting Aalborg
Arvydas Zilius took this fight on short notice and it was very obvious that there was a articulated difference in the skill level of the two fighters. Zap dominated the fight form early on at got some good takedowns in and ended up finishing Zilius on a RNC.

KO-of the night:
Kenneth Wivelsted
Submission of the night:Romy Ruyssens

Kampmann vs Shields Co-Main Event for UFC 121

The fightcard for UFC 121 is filled with lots of exciting match-ups. Not only on the maincard but also on the undercard. But most importantly it has the Danish fighter Martin Kampmann fighting Jake Shields as the co-main event.
The main event for this fight is Brock lesnar vs Cain Valsquez, and as any other card with Lesnar in it, this one is almost guaranteed more than a million PPV buys, and that is going to mean massive exposure for the other fighters on the card.

Mikkel Guldbæk will meet former UFC fighter at Fight Arena 20

The Danish veteran Mikkel Guldbæk is taking on his toughest opponent yet in one of the biggest fights in Denmark. His opponent Nissen Osterneck(7-3) has fought in both WEC against Jake Rosholt and in UFC where he lost a split decision to Jorge Rivera.

Nissen Osterneck is very high caliber grappler training with Relson Gracie and with a jui jitsu record of 64-4. Osterneck is also training kickboxing with the former muay thai world champion Maurice Travis.

Guldbæk on the other hand is one of veterans of Danish MMA and has fought in MMA for over 10 year.
Despite the fact that he has won several kickboxing titles, Gulbæk has still won most of his fights by submission.

This fight is really a tough one to call. Both fighters has a tremendous amount of experience, Both fighters are skilled grapplers and they both have a good stand-up game. Guldbæk has a lot to win with this fight, Osterneck on the other hand has just won a title in smaller promotion in Brazil and a victory in a show in Denmark is not going to help much with in plans of getting back in to the UFC. There is still no doubt that both athletes are going to train their asses of for this fight, but Guldbæk might want the bit more that will ensure him the victory.

Here is a promo video for the fight, made by Fight Arena:

Rasmus Bendtsen to fight Hyram Rodriguez at Fightergalla 15

Rasmus Bendtsen from Fight Pit i Herning steps in to the ring again at Fightergalla 15 on september 11..
Bendtsen vs. Rodriguez
Hyram Rodriguez is a excellent grappler from Aruba with a record of 5-1, with most wins coming by submission.
Bendtsen is especially known for his stand-up skills, so we are going to see a classic striker vs. grappler fight. Bendtsen says that he is going in there to "hit his head of" and predicts that Rodriguez will try to get him down into his element.

My predictions is that Bendtsen will be able to keep it standing and will have an edge there. Rodriguez is a very athletic fighter and if the fight goes to the ground he is good at ending up in the right positions, so Bendtsen will need to watch out. If he is able to follow his game plan I see him winning this fight.

Kampmann vs Shields Confirmed for UFC 121

As I wrote earlier today, Martin Kampmann was rumoured to fight Jake Shields when he would sign with the UFC.
Jake has now signed the contract and the fight is official for October 23. for UFC 121 in Shields home state California.
There will be a lot of hype around this fight and fighting on the same card as Brock Lesnar could mean that around 1 million PPV buys and potential exposure to several million people.

Here is what I wrote about the fight earlier:
"
Kampmann recently won a dominate decision victory over Paulo Thiago. Jake shields' last victory came against former pride champion Dan Henderson. Kampmann's only two loses in the UFC has come against to of the absolute best and he is 8-2 in the UFC. Jake shields is on a 14-fight win streak since the end of 2004.

There is no doubt about that the level of hype around both of these fighters is really high. Plus the UFC is probably going to hype this fight even more now that they have stolen Jake shield from strikeforce.
Martin would really win a lot from this fight, but the stakes are also pretty high. When you fight against a guy that's on a such a long win streak you risk a lot, and this is far from an easy fight. But after what Kampmann showed against Paulo Thiago He is more than ready!
"

I still believe that Kampmann will win this. Many people say that Kampmann weakness is wrestling, which is just what Shields is good at. But looking at the Paulo Thiago fight where Kampmann manhandled a really great BJJ black belt. Although not the same as a really good wrestler, you get the feeling that Kampmann's ground game has evolved greatly.

Martin Kampmann likely to be first oppenent for Jake Shields

Jake Shields was the Strikeforce middleweight champion but was stripped of the title after it came out, that he was going to be signing with the UFC. With the switch to UFC Shields is also planning to return to welterweight where he fought when he was the Elite XC champion.
It is now rumoured that Shields first opponent will be the Danish fighter Martin Kampmann, a match that will truly make the winner top contender. The date for the fight could be october 23 at UFC 121.

Tue Trnka discusses Kenneth Rosfort's fight with Greg Loughran

Pad work with Tue Trnka and Kenneth Rosfort - Courtesy Nicolas Dalby

Tue Trnka is Kenneth Rosfort's coach and is also know for his work as MMA reporter. I asked Tue some question on Kenneth Rosfort vs. Greg Laughran at Cage warriors 37, here is what came of it:
Kenneth Rosfort has landed a title fight against Greg “Hitman” Loughran at Cage Warriors 37 in Birmingham, England, on May 22. How big is that fight?
- Well, obviously, the fight is a massive one. I mean, for any fighter this is a big fight. The Cage Warriors title is a title with leverage behind it. If you look at their champions, and how they’ve done, it tells you a lot about the event and their level. Of course, we’re looking at this as a terrific opportunity for Kenneth, and he has really deserved it, but we know we’re up against it here.
We’re fighting away from home against a dangerous, seasoned veteran, who’s hungry for a big victory. Hopefully, this fight will be a eye-opener in terms of recognition, as Ian Dean and the team behind Cage Warriors are doing a marvellous job of marketing the event. The winner gets another splendid opportunity in September, as a fight against the former champion, Alexandre “Xandinho” Izidro, already has been lined up, but we’re not even thinking about that possibility right now. All our focus is on Loughran and his skill set.

Do you have any predictions for the outcome of the fight?
- I’m not going to sit here and do a lot of trash talking. Loughran is a great fighter, and we respect his skills a lot. He seems like a likeable fellow, but of course, we believe in Kenneth’s skills, too. I expect Kenneth to come through, but this won’t be an easy fight. What Kenneth does best, is to absolutely destroy his opponents, but of course Loughran is ready for him. Loughran has showed, that he’s a top level fighter. He has improved a lot over the years, after a rough start to his professional career, and his record is deceiving. With wins over quality fighters like Peter Irving, Andre Winner, Francis Heagney, Daniel “Denzil” Thomas and Rob Sinclair, he has proven he’s a legitimate top fighter. He’s one of those fighters, who never back down from a fight, and he has faced so many elite fighters on short notice. I think this will be a gruelling war, and that’s what we’re preparing for. Loughran is really well-rounded, precise and calm under pressure, so he’ll probably look to shut Kenneth down both standing and on the ground. I expect fireworks, to tell you the truth. Both are really good strikers, who also have solid grappling, and we’re preparing for a war. A war of nutrition, as they say. These two are serious, professionals, who come to fight. Both are very exciting to watch, and there’s no doubt in my mind that leather will fly, and the audience is in for a special treat here. We’ll just have to see, who’ll come out on top, I guess, but it should be a sweet ride!

Kenneth was supposed to face Daniel “Denzil” Thomas at Fightergalla 13, but due to the now infamous volcano eruption, that fight was cancelled at the very last minute. Has the training continued at the same pace, or how have you handled that situation?
- Well, Kenneth’s manager, Manos Terzitane of Mano Management, offered us a fight against Jason Ball at Cage Warriors 37, before we knew the Denzil fight was off. So, we had that in mind, when the fight got cancelled, which took some of the frustration away. Then the Ball fight got cancelled, and instead Kenneth was supposed to fight at Fightergalla 14 on 29th of May. Then, out of the blue, the call for the title fight came, because Izidro had sustained an injury. Kenneth took a week off after cutting weight and all that, in preparation for the Denzil fight, and then started training for the Fightergalla 14 fight immediately afterwards. He’s always in great shape, but of course we’ve upped the stamina training a bit, because the fight is scheduled for five rounds. So, right now we’re training with Loughran in mind, and everything’s going great. As usual, the entire Fightcraft Gym has stood behind Kenneth. This is a team effort, although it’s an individual sport. All the fighters have pushed him in sparring, the coaches have supervised and focused on his technique and conditioning and as usual we’ve also trained a lot with different fighters from other gyms, as well.

How much will the extra two rounds affect Kenneth?
- Honestly, I don’t know. When we got the call, we only had three weeks to prepare, so we haven’t really been able to change that much. But as I said, he was already preparing for a fight, and he’s in excellent shape. Stamina has never been an issue with Kenneth, and he’s always looked ready for more rounds, when his fights have gone the distance, even though he’s been in some gruelling battles. I don’t expect it to be a problem at all, and I actually think it suits Kenneth better, but we won’t know until the fourth and fifth rounds have been completed, now will we?

If Kenneth wins the fight, how do you view the future?
- As I said, we don’t focus on that at all. I have a heard time focusing on anything happening after the 22nd of May. For sure, a win will boost Kenneth’s career, but we’ll deal with that after the fight. A win sets up the big fight against Izidro, as I said, but that’s not part of our calculation, right now.

Do you have a dream fight for Kenneth?
- Not really… This is it, pretty much. The next big fight has always been Kenneth’s goal, and that’s how we operate with him. In many ways, Kenneth’s different from most fighters. He’s not ambitious like the rest of our fighters, or all the other fighters I know. Yet, he’s without a doubt the best Danish fighter besides Martin Kampmann, and in my opinion one of the best in Europe. Kenneth views each fight as kind of an adventure. Simply put, he loves to fight! Of course, he’d like to see how far he can take it, and he’s as professional and dedicated about his training as the best of them, with 10-14 training sessions per week leading up to a fight. He never puts pressure on himself, and neither does the team, and I think that’s one of the secrets behind his ability to perform. He’s so relaxed. He’s in it for the love of the game, and not because he wants to fight in the UFC or any other big event. There’s no distant goal, and he’s very down to Earth about it. Of course, he’d like to fight against top opponents at major events, but he hasn’t one specific goal or dream with his career. As long as he enjoys training and fighting, he’ll fight on. We take one fight at a time, and as he keeps on defeating better and better opponents, we keep on advancing to the next level, so to speak. In many ways, this is kind of a dream fight for him, as it’s a really big fight against a dangerous opponent for a major organization. This is the biggest fight of his career by far, and he’s more excited than ever before. He always performs amazingly, and I think this fight against Loughran, win or lose, will showcase just how good Kenneth really is.

Anything else you want to add?
- I’d like to thank Ian Dean of Cage Warriors for giving us the opportunity, Manos Terzitane making it a reality and the team of trainers and fighters at Fightcraft Gym for making Kenneth ready for this fight. We’ve worked so very hard and dedicated for each and every fight, and his progression has been incredible. I think Kenneth deserves this fight more than anyone else, and I’m so appreciative of the Cage Warriors team’s job with this. I also want to thank promoter Carl Otto Knudsen, who acted very professionally, when we got this fight. He didn’t make a problem out of us cancelling Kenneth’s fight at Fightergalla 14, even though he had put in time and energy in finding Kenneth a worthy and willing opponent. Knudsen has promoted Rosfort well, and more or less solely promotes Danish MMA at the highest level, and has over the yeas kept on promoting major events from European Vale Tudo to Cage Challenge to Fightergalla.

Thank you for the interview!
- It’s all on me! Thank you for conducting the interview, DanishMMA.com, and thank you for doing a good job, giving the Danish MMA fighters some well-deserved publicity.

Kenneth Rosfort to fight Greg Loughran at Cage Warriors

Kenneth Rosfort is probably the best Danish fighter outside the UFC. He is so good that it was hard to find opponents in Europe to fight him. Fortunately Kenneth has just gotten a really big opportunity to fight Greg Loughran for the Cage warrior Lightweight title.

Greg Laughran is regarded to in the top 5 of British Lightweight with the four top spot occupied by UFC fighters.
Greg has fought in Bellator FC in USA, where he knocked down Eddy Alvarez twice before getting submitted.
Right now he is on a 3 fight loosing streak fighting in Florida, but his record has wins over Daniel Thomas who Rosfort was supposed to fight at FG 13, Peter Irving who is the 10th Legion Welterweight champion, Rob Sinclair who is the BAMMA lightweight champion and Andre Winner a TUF cast member now fighting in the UFC.

Loughran is a skilled striker, but has had quite a few loses coming by way of submission, including a loss to Jeff Lawson who Kenneth dominated both standing and on the ground, so perhaps we might see a different side of Rosforts game, that we have not seen much of before.

The venue for this fight is the the oldest MMA event in Britain, the Cage Warriors FC. Cage warriors 37 will be held at the NEC in Birmingham at the same time at a big martial arts convention.
Report say that the event will be streamed live to fans online.

Fightergalla 13 RAW: Jaroslav Poborský vs. Nicolas Dalby

In the first exchange Poborský dropped down and got a hold of Dalbys leg. Poborský utilized impressive wrestling to get Nicolas Dalby to the ground and stay on top for several minutes. Dalby did a good job fighting of his back and managed to get into guard and set up a triangle choke.
Soon after Dalby managed to kick Poborský away and they got to their feet. Dalby was far superior standing up where Poborský was mostly looking for another oppertunity to take him down. After sending a high kick straight into the shoulder of Poborský, Dalby hit tagged Poborský with a looping right hand. Poborský was clearly rocked and spent the rest of the round holding on.

Second round started out with some good punches and then Poborský took it to the mat. Dalby got in a sweep ending up in mount and threw some fierce elbows. Those elbows seemed to be enough for Poborský who quickly scrambled to his feet.
Been pressed up against the cage Dalby delivered several knees to the head and when Poborský backed up Dalby charged and rotated Poborský 180 degrees with at right hand. The Czech showed what a great chin he had at quickly recovered and scrambled to his feet(taking a few hits on the way up).
Standing up again Dalby dominated Poborský chasing him around the cage. Then Poborský threw a spinning back elbow sending Dalby to his knees. Dalby quickly got a hold of opponent but allowed him to get a guillotine choke in. The Choke was really in tight but Dalby fought his way out receiving a cheer from the crowd

In the beginning of the third round Dalby gave out a taste of the sharpshooter kicking, unfortunately none of the kicks hit their target. Then a right hand sent Poborský running and when Dalby chased him Poborský went for a takedown which was quickly reversed and Dalby got his back, where dalby mixed it up with punches, elbows and knees. Poborský rolled over and spent the next two minutes with Dalby in his guard hitting him with elbows and punches until dalby chose to stand up.
Dalby dominated the last one and a half minute of the fight avoiding two takedown attempts both times ending up in mount, which was where the fight ended.

Nicolas Dalby won a unanimous decision, in probably the best fight i have seen on Danish soil.

A minute in to the match they clinched up and soon after Mikkel slammed Josef to the mat, where dominated him for most of the round.

The second round started out as the first one, but this time it was more obvious that Mikkel parlos cardio where superior to Josef kral's. Fightergalla 13 Raw: Mikkel Kjer Parlo Fightcraft.dk Vs Jofes Kral Hell Cage Team

Mikkel Parlo is without a doubt the biggest prospect in Danish MMA and that didn't change when he knocked out Willem Peters in his pro debut and he is still only 19 years old.
His opponent is the Czech fighter Jofes Kral from Team Hell Cage Team. Both fighter are strong and very compact guy, they both have a really good ground game and both of the likes to bang.

This is really a fight with good value if you like punches that will echo through the arena and sheer power.

Fightergalla 13 Raw: Kenneth Rosfort vs Daniel Thomas

The main event of FG 13 is a fight win not only a championship belt on the line but also long winning streak from both fighters.

Kenneth Rosfort(13-2) is on a 5 fight winning streak with dominating wins over Jeff lawson and Franco de Leonardis.
Kenneth is a sprawl and brawl fighter with good technical striking and a very hard punch. He has fought international stars such as Dennis Siver, Anthony Njokuani and Martin Kampmann (Amateur fight).

Daniel Thomas(17-6) is on a 7 fight winning streak and is considered one of UK top 10 fighters in the weight class. Daniel is coming out of a training camp at Matt Hughes H.I.T. squad in USA and says that being considered the underdog in this fight has made him work even harder.

Daniel Thomas is the first fighter in some time that will look to stand and trade punches with Rosfort, which will be the final test to see if he is ready for the big promotions.

Rasmus Bendtsen 10th legion title fight report

Bendtsen was unable to stop Mohammeds takedowns

Michael mikkelsen who was Bendtsens corner man gave a fight report on martialarts.dk, this is a translated and fitted version of the report:

Bendtsen started out the first round with a few good punches and after getting hit with a straight right Mohammed did not feel like trading anymore and went for the clinch.
Although Rasmus controlled the clinch, but Abdul utilized his great strength and wrestling to take him down despite of Rasmus' impressive takedown defence.
After that Mohammed turned the fight into a wrestling match and grinded the round out, without damaging Bendtsen.

The next two rounds followed the same pattern at Abdul Mohammed won the decision victory, in a fight that really wasn't exciting from the point where it went to the ground.

Kampmann is not planning to make this injury stop him longer that absolutely nessecary and hopes to fight again in may!

Mikkel Parlo's pro debut opponent announced!

The 19 year old prospect Mikkel Parlo from Fightcraft gym is making his long awaited pro debut at Fightergalla 12 the 6th of February. Parlo will face the Dutchman Willem Peters from Mike's gym in Amsterdam.

Many people in the danish MMA community has awaited the pro debut of the teen who has a bunch of awesome victories in MMA, shootfighting, submission wrestling and stand-up behind him. Despite of his young age finding amateur opponents was difficult that he needed to go pro to fight. This was no problem for the talented hard worker who is up to any challenge.

Willem Peters, who is also making his debut, is an experienced grappler with a purple belt in BJJ, but his biggest force could be his experience from the great sparring partners available in Mike's Gym.

Also on the Fightergalla card is Kenneth Rosfort and David Rosmon and many amateur fighters.
Tickets are available through Billetnet.dk

The top Danish fighter Martin 'Hitman' Kampmann has agreed to a fight against Ben 'Killa B' Saunders at UFC 111 the 27 of March in New Jersey.

The Hitman won his last fight against Jacob Volkmann at UFC 108 and is looking to get back into title contention after being brutally TKO'ed by Paul Daley.

Ben Saunders lost his fight against Mike Swick, who was supposed to fight Kampmann for a shot at the Welterweight title but withdrew with an injury leaving Kampmann in the hands of Paul Daley. Instead Saunders proved himself with a win in his last fight against Marcus Davis by way of a devastating thai clinch.

Though both of fighters' last fights was denoted to the preliminary card and not shown on the pay per view, this fight will probably have it's spot right up there with the already crowded main card containing 2 titlefights!

Fightergalla 12 fightcard breakdown pt. 1

Fightergalla 12 will take place on the 6th of February and although the fightcard has not been fully released, there are already some really awesome fights.

The main event Kenneth Rosfort vs Franco De Leonardis is a fight for the lightweight title and it is a typical striker vs grappler matchup:
De Leonardis is a black belt i BJJ with a MMA record of 11 wins with 4 losses.
Rosfort is a devastating striker winning most his fights by TKO or KO and he won his last fight again the skilled grappler Jeff Lawson by an impressive KO. Jeff Lawson afterwards called rosfort "slippery bastard" to describe how dificult it was to keep him on the ground, bearing that in mind i would bet my money on Rosfort by KO.

The co-main event David Rosmon vs Ramond Jarman is a fight for the welterweight title:
This fight is a rematch from their first meeting at fightergalla 6 in 2008 where Jarman won by submission, in the mean time Rosmon has won the title and is now seeking to get his revenge. Ramond Jarman has since fought 2 times in the M-1 challenge.
Both fighters are skilled in all aspects of the game, so we are most likely to see an exciting fight.

Other pro fighters on the card is the prospect Mikkel Parlo who makes his pro debut and Sonny Nielsen but both their opponents will be announced later.

Happy New Year! Welcome to a great year for danish MMA

I'm back, after a layoff through all of december. The layoff is both due to the lack of danish MMA news and also because i have used a lot of time starting up a new MMA gym in Roskilde, with some of the crew from RBK, wich i probably will do an article on later.

Looking at the calendar, 2010 already looks as a great year for danish MMA. We have Fightergalla 12 and Adrenaline 4 in February, FG Fight Night in March and Fightergalla 13 in April.

On top of all the great shows there are two Danes fighting for their titles at 10th Legion and Martin Kampman should be able to start another great winning streak tonight against Jacob Volkmann.
